Numeracy Diagnostic
In September and February every student takes a numeracy test to look at fundamental arithmetic needed to succeed in Maths. This is differentiated into four test levels and creates a target sheet.
These target sheets are in the front of your Maths exercise books (e-mail to request a copy) and each area has a video clip and a book reference. If a student scores a 3 they are 'secure' in that area, a 2 'secure but with a minor procedural error', a 1 demonstrates 'some understanding' and 0- 'very little or no understanding'. You can use Hegartymaths video clips to work on your targets by searching for the clip number on www.hegartymaths.com or you can work from a specific page on the numeracy booklet. The booklets are available for £1.50 from school. Online here- ask Mr Tanner for the password. |
I used to struggle on negative numbers and fractions. This system allowed me to focus on those areas and I'm now so much more confident. I'm so pleased Sir, my hard work paid off! I improved from September to February on over 10 topic areas. Year 7 student |
