GCSE Flashcards
This retention of factual knowledge is now even more important with the increased need to recall in the new GCSE.
Rationale
Much of mathematics is content driven. Without factual knowledge students cannot access mathematical problems and maths exams. When analysing pupils resultsplus data we found that we were losing marks disproportionally due to pupils lacking mathematical knowledge.
A classic example is a student not knowing the formula for the area/circumference of a circle or getting the two confused. If they are confident they know the formula, then questions that are dependent on that knowledge become accessible. This could be a multiple mark question that suddenly the recall of key knowledge allows access to.
