These materials are an approach to exam questions embedded across all year groups to help with 'wordy questions' (formally a02/3) but basically any mathematical exam question. I have included booklets of exam questions. answers and some videos for higher and foundation. Whilst original developed for the 'old GCSE' these are still a fantastically useful resource.
I think the concept is self explanatory. We have made physical rulers with: Read, Underline, Layout, Evaluate and Review on them that are available in each classroom.
It has made an amazing difference to the way student approach questions. Every student now has a 'start point' and can try and get going on a question. Layout encourages the use of diagrams, tables and working. Evaluate (mathematical word for work it out) is useful to explain what the word means in exam language and review includes checking workings and ensuring you haven't missed anything in the question.
Further exemplification of each area can be found here.
